The All-Terrain Unmanned Ground Vehicle, is an independent vehicle which is controlled by a control S/W and has video cameras. Both the control S/W and the video need to be transmitted to a control center. The communication between the vehicle and the control center is done by a secured WIFI network.
The challenge in this project was to create a wide range- high quality WIFI coverage which will allow the vehicle to travel and send the video streams without disconnections – also on tough desert terrain which has hills and valise.
We installed a WIFI network based on Alvarion/Waivion base station (WBS2400) and succeeded to create 2 WIFI coverage areas – 3 square KM each, and a wide band (15M) point to point link (7KM distance) between the 2 areas.
